Priority Pass Review: Alaska Lounge at LAX

Alaska Lounge LAX

Background:

I tried to get in the LAX Alaska Lounge at 9:30 am on a Thursday and the sign was out saying it was full for Priority Pass Select holders. I have Priority Pass Select from my Hilton AMEX Aspire Card, so I get access to this lounge and get to bring 2 guests.

Darn it.

After constantly checking every 15 minutes or so, and munching on a burger from the Habit, I went back at 10:35 and the sign was gone! Woooo! A quick swipe of my card at the front desk and my parents and I were in!

Is the LAX Alaska Lounge Really Small?

Yes! Very small. I completely understand why there’s a capacity restriction because the lounge is super small. Like uber small. There’s a bar, seating area, a small room for kids, 2 telephone rooms and a computer area. The lounge was completely full when I went in.

The food selection screamed domestic lounge, and I guess I’m spoiled as my last flight gave me access to the new American Airlines Flagship Lounge at LAX.

There was a soda dispenser, bagel and banana nut muffin selection. Fruits were available (banana, orange, pear, apple) and there’s a make your own pancake machine! Not the worst lounge selection I’ve seen!

I snatched a nice seat at the windows which had a great view of the runway! There were a lot of Virgin America planes which was a nice treat. I really will miss them!

When I left the lounge at 11:20 am, the “full house” sign was back. I’m super happy I got in! I really think Priority Pass needs to add another lounge, because the KAL lounge at Tom Bradley doesn’t open until 12PM (and it’s a decent walk from Terminal 6). And the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse is at Terminal 2, and you can’t get from T6 to T2 post security.

While I won’t make it a priority to visit this lounge on my LAX travels, it was nice to grab a quick bite! 🙂

Have you been to the LAX Alaska Lounge? What did you think?

Cheers,

  1. I’ve only been successful one time. The last four times there was a sign outside, and I even went upstairs to double check. I’m beginning to think this is all a scam. They say they take priority pass but open such a small window of opportunity that most people can’t access it. They may as well put a sign up that says party pass excepted only between 10 and 10:35 AM.

  2. This was actually my first lounge experience a few years ago. I had missed a flight so I hung out there for several hours waiting for the next flight. That day it was not overcrowded and the computer space was a lifesaver. I didn’t realize it was a smaller lounge at the time. I would appreciate another Priority Pass Lounge at LAX. I rarely am able to use a lounge there since I never seem to have a flight from a corresponding terminal.
