Last week, after the brand new benefit went live, I wrote this post about how the benefit works on the Business Platinum Card and the Business Gold Card. In case you missed out on the news, American Express has now launched a brand new Chat GPT credit on these cards and you can earn up to $300 in credits per calendar year. However, the benefit is only applicable when you sign up for a ChatGPT Business membership.

New $300 American Express Credit: Timeline
Since the benefit was live on my Business Gold Card, I decided to test it out.
Step 1: Before you make a purchase, you first need to enroll.
Step 2: Once you enroll, you need a make a qualifying purchase. In this case, it would be a ChatGPT Business membership. If you purchase a monthly membership, then you’ll have to shell out a minimum of $50 per month ($25 x 2), due to a two sit minimum required. As stated earlier, refer to this post in which I’ve highlighted multiple options that you may have as you look to optimize this benefit.
Step 3: I made the purchase on May 17 and the benefit tracker moved right away on May 18. I also got an email from American Express on the same day confirming that I’d made a qualifying purchase.
Step 4: The credit posted immediately on May 18, even though the posting date here shows May 17.
The Pundit’s Mantra
If you’re already carrying either of these cards in your wallet, then this benefit is a very good addition. I use Chat GPT frequently and this benefit provides me with handy rebates.
If you’re not a cardholder already, then American Express is offering record high welcome bonuses on the Business Platinum and Business Gold cards. While these offers are variable, you can earn up to 300,000 Membership Rewards points from just one welcome bonus. Once you enter your details, American Express will display whether your qualify for a bonus. If you do, then you’ll see an offer based on a set of criteria determined by American Express.
