Last month some new customers of the Amex Platinum Card saw a nice $50 goodwill credit post to their account. That and more as we recap some of the top stories we covered during the month of July.

Amex Platinum Card: $50 Courtesy Credit Added for Eligible Cardholders

Some Amex Platinum cardholders are receiving an automatic $50 goodwill statement credit without making a qualifying purchase. The credit appears to be targeted primarily at newer cardholders who recently paid the annual fee. Amex may be compensating these customers for the removal of the $100 Saks Fifth Avenue benefit, although the company has not confirmed this.

New $1,000 Amex Credit: Why I Find This One Truly Bizarre

American Express has added a $1,000 annual Resy credit to its invitation-only Centurion Card. This is divided into quarterly credits of up to $250. I find the structure unusual because Centurion members already pay a $10,000 initiation fee and a $5,000 annual fee, making quarterly benefit tracking seem inconsistent with an ultra-premium product. Moreover, I think that extending Amex’s “coupon book” approach to its most exclusive card could weaken the simplicity, value and prestige associated with the Centurion brand.

New Hilton Property Offers Stunning Waterfront Views

Hilton has opened the Hilton Chania Old Town Resort & Spa in Crete, located within walking distance of Chania’s historic Old Town. The 85-room property combines an urban location with resort-style amenities, including heated private pools in every room, a rooftop infinity pool and extensive spa facilities. Its year-round operation and availability through Hilton Honors make it an attractive option for both paid and points-based stays in Greece.

How Does The New Amex $300 ChatGPT Credit Work?

Your Complete Guide To The New $300 ChatGPT Credit By American Express

Amex Business Platinum and Business Gold cardholders can receive up to $300 in annual statement credits for eligible ChatGPT Business purchases after enrollment. Because ChatGPT Business requires at least two seats, the benefit does not completely cover a full-year subscription. Therefore, it should not be confused with a ChatGPT Plus credit. In this post, I write about how monthly billing for six months is a flexible way to maximize the benefit before deciding whether to continue the service.

Chase Has Quietly Added New Warnings To Some Chase Offers

Chase has added language to certain Chase Offers warning that abusive use may result in exclusion from future promotions. The warning is tied to individual offers rather than specific Chase card families. The issuer has not clearly defined what constitutes abuse. While ordinary cardholders should see little change, those who repeatedly stack, cycle, cancel or refund purchases to exploit offers may face greater scrutiny.

Another Refresh Soon? Amex Has Removed This Card From Their Website

American Express has removed the Green Card from its public website, making it unavailable through the standard online application channel. The move follows reports that the product will be renamed the American Express Classic Green Card in August 2026, fueling speculation about a refresh or replacement. Existing cardholders are not currently affected. Amex has yet to announce any formal changes to the card’s benefits or terms.

New Wave Of Chase Shutdowns, What’s Going On?

In this post, I covered renewed Chase account shutdown data points and the types of activity that may trigger them. Potential risk factors include abusing Chase Offers, using unauthorized application links, creating circular spending, reselling benefits, generating unusually high spending or making suspicious payments. Chase is unlikely to target ordinary customers, provided they make genuine purchases, use normal payment accounts and avoid attempts to manipulate rewards.

Amex Tightens Centurion Lounge Access Further: Changes Now Live

American Express has introduced stricter Centurion Lounge access rules. These rules require guests to travel on the same flight as the eligible cardholder. Lounge entry during a layover is also now limited to five hours before the connecting flight’s departure. The changes are intended to address overcrowding and will most noticeably affect travelers with long connections.
