Hilton is adding another brand to the Maldives. The company has signed Coco de Mer Maldives, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, a 75-key resort scheduled to open in June 2027. This will be the first Tapestry Collection by Hilton property in the Maldives.

That is the most interesting part of Hilton’s latest three-property signing across Thailand and the Maldives. The Maldives is already packed with luxury resorts, but Hilton’s decision to bring Tapestry Collection there is notable because this is not one of Hilton’s ultra-luxury brands. It is a lifestyle collection brand, which could make this a different kind of Maldives play.

Coco de Mer Maldives: What We Know

Coco de Mer Maldives will be located about 25 minutes by speedboat from Malé, making it relatively convenient by Maldives standards. Some Maldives resorts require seaplane transfers, long domestic connections or additional logistical planning. A 25-minute speedboat ride from Velana International Airport makes this property easier for travelers who want the Maldives experience without adding too much transfer complexity.

The resort is expected to have 75 keys, which suggests a smaller and potentially more intimate setup. Planned facilities include dining venues, a wellness center, a sea sports center and pickleball courts. The pickleball detail is interesting. It shows how resorts are increasingly trying to widen their appeal beyond the traditional honeymoon-and-spa template.

For Hilton Honors members, the big question will be pricing. The Maldives can be brutal on both cash rates and points rates, especially once transfers, meals and taxes are factored in. If this property lands at a more accessible price point than some of Hilton’s existing Maldives resorts, it could become a very useful addition.

Why Tapestry Collection Matters

Tapestry Collection is not Waldorf Astoria or Conrad. That is exactly why this signing is interesting. The Maldives has long been associated with ultra-luxury travel, but not every traveler wants or can justify paying top-tier resort pricing. A Tapestry Collection property could give Hilton a way to serve travelers looking for something more distinctive than a standard resort, but potentially less expensive than the absolute top end. Of course, we do not know yet how this property will be priced. Maldives hotels have a way of making even “lifestyle” resorts expensive. Still, adding another Hilton Honors option near Malé is a positive development.

Hilton Also Expands In Thailand

Alongside the Maldives signing, Hilton also announced two Thailand properties.

Andamanda Voyage, Curio Collection by Hilton is scheduled to open at the end of 2026 in Phuket’s Kathu District. The 246-key resort will sit within the Andamanda Waterpark complex and will mark Curio Collection’s debut in Phuket. That location makes this a family-friendly and entertainment-driven play, with direct access to retail, dining and nearby attractions including Phuket Old Town, Patong, Karon, Phuket Fantasea and Carnival Magic.

Hilton has also signed a 65-room Tapestry Collection by Hilton property in Chiang Mai’s Old Town. The hotel will be located in a heritage building reflecting Northern Thai architecture and will be close to temples, markets and weekend walking streets. That sounds like exactly the kind of property where a soft brand can work well: local character, smaller footprint and strong destination appeal.

The Pundit’s Mantra

The Maldives signing is the one I would watch most closely. Coco de Mer Maldives, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, could give Hilton Honors members another interesting way to access the Maldives, especially if pricing ends up being more approachable than Hilton’s top-tier resorts.

The 25-minute speedboat transfer from Malé is a major advantage. The 75-key size also sounds promising. That said, we need to wait for actual rates, award pricing and resort fee details before getting too excited. Hilton is clearly expanding its luxury and lifestyle footprint across Asia Pacific, and these three signings fit that strategy well.

For travelers, the takeaway is simple: Hilton’s resort map in Southeast Asia and the Maldives is getting more interesting as it continues to focus on its strategy to expand rapidly in Asia.
