SUN-AIR of Scandinavia have been in hibernation throughout the pandemic and they are finally coming back. The airline operates a fleet of Dornier 328JET aircraft, which are rare indeed.

You may not have heard of the airline, but they operate as a British Airways franchisee. This means the planes are painted in the BA livery and the crew wear the familiar uniforms.

SUN-AIR is Coming Back

Scheduled services between London City Airport and Billund in Denmark will restart from 5 September 2022. Flights leave LCY at 9:45am and arrive at BLL at 12:20 after a 1 hour and 35 minute flight. Some days there is a second service, departing at 19:00 and arriving at 21:35.

In the other direction, flights leave Denmark at 08:35 and 17:50, arriving back in England at 09:15 and 18:30. It seems flights run three days per week on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday initially.

On Board Service

Seating on board is in a 1-2 configuration and all economy class. However, at least initially, all passengers will get Fast-Track security at Billund airport.

In addition, everyone is entitled to one piece of checked luggage, plus complimentary food and drinks are served on board. From all accounts, the on board service is very good.

Overall Thoughts

It is great to see SUN-AIR of Scandinavia coming back after such a long period away. The British Airways franchisee has an excellent reputation, which makes this a particularly welcome development.

Flights are available to book on the British Airways website and you do earn Avios and Tier Points in the Executive Club. Seats are also open for redemptions. Hopefully this is the beginning of a restoration of their entire network.
