The Moxy Southampton is centrally located an easy walk from Southampton Central Station. Moxy is a Marriott brand aimed at people who like things to be a little quirky, not too expensive and yet very comfortable.

I booked the room for a little over £100 for one night on a weekend, which is good value. Finding the hotel was easy and it is located by a Premier Inn, another go to hotel chain for me when on a budget.

Check-In

After heading through the revolving doors, you are in what Moxy call “The Now”. This is where the bar is, as well as an area with games and so on for socialising.

Check-in is done at the bar, and while the computer was a little recalcitrant, I was on my way to the fourth floor in short order. Rooms are accessed via key card, which is standard.

Moxy Southampton Room

Once inside, I took stock of my room. This features a luggage rack, a place to hang clothes up on an art wall, bed, television, kettle with tea and coffee making bits, bedside tables, a chair and of course a bathroom with shower.

Products are by muk, which comprise of hand wash at the basin, plus a combined shampoo and shower gel in the shower. All very nice and throughout the room are plenty of places to plug things in. Fluffy towels and a hairdryer are also provided.

Sleeping And Bar

Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel and the bar is busy all the time. It also never closes and prices are pretty good. A double Vodka and orange juice set me back £9.50 which I thought to be quite reasonable.

The view outside my room was of the building next door but it did provide plenty of natural light. Sleep quality was great, as the bed and bedding were comfortable and clean.

Overall Thoughts

The Moxy Southampton is a perfectly pleasant place to stay overnight. It is close to a very large shopping mall and the city centre, meaning it was simple to grab some take away KFC for my evening meal.

With attractive and helpful staff and a great vibe, there is no reason not to stay here. I found no issues whatsoever and would happily stay in this hotel again.
