When flying overseas from Adelaide, the Plaza Premium International Lounge is the only game in town. All business class and status passengers use the facility, which is how I found myself here before my Malaysia Airlines flight to Kuala Lumpur.
Passengers are not permitted to go through international security until two hours before departure. As the lounge is post-security, it also means you cannot get to it until security opens.
Plaza Premium International Lounge Adelaide
This lounge is not huge, but also it’s not exactly extremely busy. When I arrived, some people were paying in, but others like me had access via the class of travel. When you walk in, there are some seats near the door, then you pass the bar, table seating, turn left and head down to where the food is at the back. It’s sort of an L shape overall.
Pleasant Bathrooms
No expense has been spared when it comes to the facilities. While small, they feature lovely basins and a bright white design which is quite nice.
Plenty to Eat
The self-service food area is where everyone immediately went as soon as they arrived. As it was breakfast time, you could find scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, croissants, Danish and even a pancake machine, like the ones in the Alaska Airlines lounge in Seattle.
Overall Thoughts
The Plaza Premium International Lounge in Adelaide is a lovely place to wile away an hour or so before a flight. It’s light and airy due to the windows all down one side and is nicely furnished.
Food and drink options cover all the bases as well and overall I thought it was a nice place to be. Since all international airlines flying out of Adelaide use it, I guess it has to be up to a certain standard.
