TAP Air Portugal will commence flying between Lisbon and Dublin from 31 March 2019. They are clearly confident about the route as they are starting twice daily services.

The new services will be in competition with both Irish carriers, Aer Lingus and Ryanair. They operate a daily flight on this route on certain days of the week, and double daily on other days

TAP Flight Schedule

Morning flights depart Lisbon at 07:05, arriving in Dublin at 09:50. Turnaround is quite short, with the flight back to Lisbon leaving at 10:35 and getting in at 13:15.

Afternoon flights will leave Portugal at 14:00, landing back in Dublin at 16:45. Perfect for those returning from a holiday. The return flight leaves Dublin at 17:30, getting in to Lisbon at 20:10.

Why Should You Fly TAP?

For starters, TAP is a member of Star Alliance. This means that if you have any kind of loyalty card from that alliance, you can earn points on your flights, which you can’t do on the other airlines. The other reasons are price and business class.

Pricing is competitive with flights as low as €78 return with hand baggage only in economy class. Also, they have business class, so you can treat yourself on the 2 hour and 40 minute flight if you wish. TAP reportedly serve very nice meals up front and food is complimentary in economy class too.

Overall Thoughts

Due to a booming Irish economy and wealth in the country now reportedly back to pre-crash levels, airlines are finding Dublin an attractive destination. TAP will provide great flights for holidaymakers looking to get a little summer sun.

Considering that TAP have a decent reputation, I’d like to try them myself at some stage. Have you flown with them before? What did you think? Thanks for reading and if you have any comments or questions, please leave them below.
