Qatar Airways has a great marketing strategy. It seems they offer a bunch of sale fares from a certain country to destinations around the world and nestled among them is a deal that is better than all the rest.
The latest sale fares are originating in Italy, with decent fares in Economy Class and Business Class from Milan, Pisa, Rome and Venice to cities around the world.
Is anyone planning to go to Tokyo? The best deal is Pisa to Tokyo, which is €1,054.52 return in Business Class. You need to book the flights by 6 June 2016 for travel up until 31 March 2017.
Having a look at early 2017, the cheapest fare I could find from Europe to Tokyo was from Berlin on British Airways and Finnair at €1,586. This means the Qatar Airways deal is €532 cheaper, which I think is a pretty decent saving. As Qatar is a member of oneworld, you should earn points and status credits across any of the airlines in the alliance. In case you’re interested, next cheapest was Turkish Airlines out of Amsterdam for €1,689 and then Air China out of Rome for €1,774.
The flights to Tokyo on Qatar have decent connection times in Doha – a couple of hours each way. The downside of course is that you have to get to Pisa. There are two oneworld carriers that fly there, British Airways year round and Finnair through to August. Of course, another option is Ryanair. They fly to many destinations from Pisa so it would be relatively easy to get a cheap connection to and from there for your trip.
Qatar Airways are one to watch when it comes to sale fares nowadays. The sales are always short in duration and there’s always a few decent nuggets worth looking into! You can see all the offers from Italy at this page on Qatar’s Italian web site.
