Norwegian Airlines, the transAtlantic low cost carrier, has been adding routes over the past few months. With their expansion into the US market with their new 737MAX, it seems that the airline would add more routes to the East Coast. Well, the airline has just announced that it will continue to expand in the West Coast.

Norwegian Adds Denver, Seattle
Norwegian has announced new flights to Denver and Seattle, two previously unserved markets. These flights, per Airlineroute, will be flown 2 and 4 times weekly, each. The airline plans to use their 787-9s on these routes. Usually, Norwegian flies to destinations from various of their hubs, such as Stockholm, Copenhagen and London. Their latest expansion, however, will only be served from London Gatwick.

Originally started off like a low cost, European carrier, Norwegian has expanded a lot since then. They have since added long haul aircraft, and expanded across the Atlantic. The airline now has a solid fleet of 737s and 787s, with 737MAX and A321neos on order as well as more 787s. The airline offers two classes of service. Their economy product is comparable to that of other international carriers. They also offer a premium economy product, that (in my opinion) looks better than what most other carriers offer. Bear in mind, the airline is still a low cost carrier, and they up charge you for almost everything. For those looking to travel for a bargain, Norwegian is still a great bet. The airline offers food for sale on board, as well as other “premium” amenities for a price.

Landing Thoughts
I am a big fan of Norwegian, they have been driving transAtlantic prices lower and lower, making it more affordable for consumers to cross the Pond. The airline offers good value-per-price options, and their premium economy is more than fine for a short hop from the East Coast to Europe. I would be more hesitant, however, to fly them to the West Coast. They fare better than most other long haul low cost carriers, given the restrictions that WOW Air places on customers. When given the option to fly on a legacy carrier in coach, as opposed to Norwegian in Premium Economy, hand down would prefer Norwegian. I hope that they continue their expansion, and therefore bring lower fares to more parts of the US.
