British Airways refurbished New York first class lounge open

British Airways have completed a refurbishment of the New York first class lounge. This is located at JFK airport in Terminal 7 and is part of a larger renovation of that terminal.

New York’s Concorde Room has already been refreshed this year, plus there is a new Premium Zone for check-in. The new First Wing and first check-in are also now open. Upgrades to the Galleries Club lounge during 2019 will complete the project.

New York First Class Lounge

Flights to New York are the premiere transatlantic services at British Airways. There are ten daily flights from London Heathrow, one daily from London Gatwick and the airlines exclusive daily BA001 from London City. These are operated by the Boeing 747, Boeing 777 and Airbus A318.

The new lounge is the first long haul lounge to showcase the new concept that is already present in Rome and Aberdeen. It is planned that Geneva, Johannesburg and San Francisco will be next to receive the refurbishment. Pre-flight dining is available in the New York lounge, with a traditional menu as well as a ‘bowl food’ concept to offer people a lighter option before boarding. Executive chefs Gavin Mackenzie and Waylon Walker are creating the menus. Also there is a new wine room, which has an enomatic dispenser. This is to provide wine at exactly the right temperature that has been oxidised to the correct level. That should certainly be interesting to try!

Overall Thoughts

British Airways New York first class lounge is open to passengers flying in first class. In addition oneworld Emerald frequent flyers and Executive Club Gold members are welcome regardless of their travel class.
