In our eighth installment of Travel Update’s popular “Worst view ever?” series, we go to Columbus, Ohio.

That’s where my husband photographed this week’s winning “Worst view ever?” He took this photo at the Red Roof Inn Plus+ near the convention center, when he took our two boys to fence in USA Fencing’s 2014 National Championships and July North American Cup.

He snapped this picture for me, knowing how we on Travel Update always obsess over unfortunate views of things like concrete masses, air conditioning ducts and shoddy apartment buildings.

While their view of the generic brick wall wasn’t exactly inspiring, the hotel worked for them with its great location, affordable price and free breakfast. They stayed there in June for about $84 a night, at least $60 a night less than other hotels nearby.

Readers: Have you stayed in a room recently with a view that you think could be the “worst view ever?” If so, send your photos along with a few comments about what you thought or did about it, to barbdelollis@gmail.com.
