SCOTTeVEST Review: Chloe Glow Hoodie for Travel (Women’s Travel Clothing with Pockets)

I’ve been on the lookout for a new jacket – or a hoodie that I can easily wear for travel – with inside pockets.   Generally, I like clothing with more (inside) pockets for women.   A few years ago, I purchased a pick pocket proof pants.   Good concept for travel, but I also don’t wear it for day-to-day.

I wanted to look for jacket or a hoodie that is practical and can be worn for casual/semi-casual (work).  A reasonably stylish jacket with inside pockets is very appealing to me.  There aren’t any major players in this space, with ScotteVest popping up as the top player when you search for pockets.

Chloe Glow Hoodie

After doing my research on what’s out there on the market, I decided to try the ScotteVest Chloe Glow Hoodie.  I know they offer a jacket option, but I liked the casual style of the hoodie.  Most reviews I read were positive, so I decided to give it a shot.

I got a true to size – medium.  The material feels better than it looks in pictures, which is good since the hoodie is priced quite steeply at $154.  It’s a niche market but it might make sense if it can be worn regularly.

Is there a …”but”?

There is.  Unfortunately.

I really, really want to love this hoodie, especially with some travel plans in the works.   This hoodie is sturdier than it looks, but the hoodie is not super lightweight to begin with (and I am someone who likes to carry /travel light).  That itself isn’t a deal-breaker for me.

It’s when you begin to add things into the pockets…the bust area begins to feel a little tight.  The hoodie begins to look bulky.   Like you could tell I have things in my pocket.  Which I do, of course.  I don’t need to advertise it, which is kind of the point.  And bulky enough to be uncomfortable.

The option would be to size up.  But the hoodie sizing would be off (sleeve is already just right/ little long) so fit would be off, even though it may help to hid some of the bulk.  If you’re on the fence and not sure what size to get, sizing up probably is a safer bet.

The Verdict

I really want to like this hoodie (it feels well-made), but it’s hard to justify the price tag for something that I know would not get regular wear.  The bulk won’t work, and that’s without even trying to put an iPad in the pocket….

I know I will pick up other other hoodies and other jackets instead, so I have to return this hoodie.

While this hoodie isn’t for me, I hope it is for others who may have a better fit.  I am still open to to trying other styles that come out from this brand, since I can appreciate that they offer options in this niche.

Are there any travel clothing that you’ve tried (with pockets) that you love?  If so, share in the in comments.  Thanks!
