Review: JetBlue A320 EvenMore Seat (FLL-EWR)

Background

To get back from Fort Lauderdale to New York, I booked a JetBlue flight as it was the lowest price. Also, I did a status match to JetBlue Mosaic, and I used the free Same-Day Change perk courtesy of my Mosaic Status to get on this flight, which I wrote more about here. It worked out nicely for me, as my originally booked flight was at 8 pm, and I wanted to leave earlier. Through the many flight changes that I voluntarily switched to, it was quite an adventure but I settled on this one to Newark, and was very happy I did!

In 2023, I flew from New York (LGA) to Fort Lauderdale (FLL) roundtrip on JetBlue and was impressed by the new restyled product. So, I did know what I was getting myself into, as it was the same A320 Restyled plane type.

Flight Details

JetBlue Flight 2906
Fort Lauderdale (FLL) to Newark (EWR)
Seat: 5D
Cabin: EvenMore (Extra Legroom)
Plane: Airbus A320 (Shantay Blue Stay)
Status: On Time (ish)

Check-In & At the Airport

The only seat left when I switched flights was in the EvenMore (formerly Even More Space) part of the cabin, which was great for me! Plus, as a Mosaic 1, you get these seats for free 24 hours before departure.

JetBlue departs from Terminal 3 at FLL, and the TSA PreCheck line was empty, so I passed security quite quickly.

I visited the Escape Lounge, which I gained access to with my AMEX Platinum Card. I’ve visited this lounge before, and it’s certainly better than waiting at the gate area as Terminal 3 at FLL is not nice in my opinion since it’s tight, outdated, and crowded. Not much had changed since my past visits to the Escape Lounge, which I had reviewed here. It was nice to grab a mini-lunch and relax before my flight.

Boarding and Seats

Boarding was scheduled 35 minutes before departure.

Unfortunately for me, the flight was leaving out of Gate E10. This gate is at the end of the terminal and the problem is that there are like 6 gates clustered in the back, and of course, multiple flights were boarding at the same time so the gate area was a mess. We didn’t start boarding until about 10 minutes after our scheduled boarding time and it was hard to wiggle through to the Priority Line to board with Mosaic.

Boarding Crowds (Yikes!)

Once I got on the plane, I was much happier! The plane was nice and felt newer, as it was one of the “Restyled” A320s that was retrofitted in 2021. The plane originally was originally delivered to JetBlue in 2011.

JetBlue already offers solid legroom, in their standard Core Class (Economy). The Core seats on the A320 offer 32 inches of pitch according to AeroLOPA. The JetBlue EvenMore seats offer 35 inches of pitch for rows 1-5 and 38 inches of pitch for the exit rows 10-11.

The legroom was good, but the slim-line seats were a bit on the thin side. All is perfectly fine for a domestic flight. The 10.1” HD seatback touchscreen TV was clear and responded well. There were movies, 100+ channels of DIRECTV, and games. Also, there is an in-seat USB A, and universal AC sockets (2 sets per group of three seats).

Boarding was completed approximately 5 minutes past our scheduled departure time. We left the gate 10 minutes past our scheduled departure time and then took off approximately 45 minutes past our scheduled departure time. The pilots let us know that the flight time would be 2 hours and 25 minutes in the air.

Fly-Fi Wi-Fi

It took me about 15 minutes after take-off to connect to the Wi-Fi network, but I was able to connect and start browsing the web. About half an hour in, it seemed that other passengers were having too much trouble getting on so they decided to reset the Wi-Fi. It was nice that it was complimentary though, and it worked for me to be on social media and send emails.

Cabin Service

Shortly after reaching cruising altitude, flight attendants came by with items for purchase. The EatUp Boxes 1-4 were available for $9-$10, and the blankets ($10), earbuds ($7), pillows ($7) & snooze kit ($2).

Then, complimentary drinks and snacks were served. For snacks, there were Plantain Chips, Pretzels, Graham Cookies, and Pop Chips. I like the Pop Chips and Plantain Chips!

There is 1 lavatory in the front of the cabin, and 2 in the rear. I did visit the lavatory once and wish they had automatic sinks.

The flight went by pretty fast, and we ended up landing about 12 minutes past our scheduled arrival time and got to the gate about 25 minutes late. Not the worst delay, so I’ll take it!

The Verdict:

Overall, I had a nice flight back to New York in the JetBlue EvenMore Seat onboard the A320. It’s modern and has seat-back IFE, free Wi-Fi, plus fun snacks!

Have you been on the JetBlue EvenMore Seat aboard the A320 (Restyled)? How was your experience?

Cheers,

Ty
