Penthouse Suite Review: Marriott’s Residence Inn Long Beach

HIGHLIGHTS: Residence Inn Long Beach

Service here at the Residence Inn Long Beach was outstanding, despite some technical issues regarding the internet. They understood my need for functional, consistent internet, and called me a cab to take me to another Marriott so I could use their internet! With a complimentary suite upgrade to a two-story penthouse, I was happy with my overall experience.

 

LOBBY & CHECK-IN

Note that this airport Marriott has a shuttle during the weekdays, and pays for cabs on the weekends. Pretty sweet. The Market is also open for Platinum guests – one amenity item of your choice, including those nice full bottles of wine. The ceilings are a little low, and the property is very large – hence a helpful map guiding you to your destination. To the right of checkin is the breakfast area.

 

ROOM

This property is very large and a map was helpful in finding my suite. Room was two floors, with queen on each, and separate bathrooms! Looked like one bed and a den since the first floor wasn’t walled off. However, it was more than sufficient for our party.

 

HOTEL SPACE / AMBIANCE

Lots of young families and young adults abound. Pleasant friendly SoCal atmosphere.

 

FOOD & DRINK

Breakfast was decent – sausage and biscuits and gravy. There is a 24 hour subway a couple minute walk away, as well as an AYCE sushi place that I unfortunately did not get to try.

 

FITNESS

As I was in town for a wedding I was time constrained and unable to use the pool or fitness facilities.

 

Miscellaneous

So, the internet basically died a couple hours into my stay. As I required it for my client’s work, I asked the front desk, who mentioned that it was a property-wide problem, and offered to pay for a cab to take me to the other Marriott a mile or so away. I accepted and they took me to another Marriott, where I used their lobby internet for an hour or so. That Marriott’s shuttle took me back. All in all, maybe 10-15 minutes wasted, but a great and easy remedy. Not only that, they offered me 10,000 Marriott points for my trouble! Very pleased with their service.

Parking is additional fee ~$10-12/day, with plenty of parking. Very well located next to Long Beach Airport, a short jaunt to downtown Long Beach or Anaheim. I would stay here again at the Residence Inn Long Beach.
