British Airways are investing in the business class offering and first cab off the rank is the Club Europe catering. Club Europe is the European business class product and the new meals commence on Sunday 26 March 2017.
As the most important part of the on board service, this news is hotly awaited. Catering has been grouped into three groups with the service depending on the flight length.
Breakfast and Brunch
The beloved Full English breakfast will still feature and the alternative will be a charcuterie selection. It will be interesting to see if the meals themselves are changed in any way from before.
Hot Meals for Lunch and Dinner
Previously, meals on shorter routes consisted of a cold salad for lunch and dinner. These will be replaced by hot meals on all European routes which will be a very welcome change.
On short and medium routes this will be a salad or a hot sandwich and on the longer routes a proper meal. At the moment many of these routes don’t offer any choice, so this should be nice.
Medium and long flights will have wine and Champagne served from full sized bottles rather than piccolos as is currently the case. This should give a much higher quality feel to proceedings than before.
Afternoon Flights
My beloved afternoon tea scones are no more! Instead there will be sandwiches or a Ploughman’s salad, accompanied by afternoon tea cake and tea.
Service Items
All crockery will now be the same as that used in Club World. These are all white and are all very nice, plus it makes sense to harmonise the product across all services.
Overall Thoughts
The changes come into play on Sunday and as luck would have it I have two flights in Club Europe that day. Make sure you check back as I will post on Sunday with all the goss about the new meals. With thanks to Prospero and this thread on FlyerTalk for the heads up and the updated British Airways meals page.

I think any change improving the catering in Club Europe is great. At this time, I exclusively fly BA Club Europe for all my intra-Europe flights. I know it’s not a real business class experience, but unless travel is super urgent and booked last minute, the fares are really inexpensive.
Interested to hear your thoughts after your upcoming flights.
I’ll look forward to sampling the changes on my next flight from FRA-LHR on 7th April.
I completely agree. From what I can gather, it’s the first time things will be harmonised between Club World and Club Europe, which have always been completely separate perhaps due to the original fact that it was BOAC and BEA.
It’s as business class as it gets for the most part within Europe. The prices are competitive, I agree. I’ll be posting on Sunday as soon as I can, so keep an eye out for it. Thanks for the comment!
