Background and Location

During a recent trip to Boston, I had the pleasure of touring the Newbury Boston which is located in the Back Bay neighborhood. It’s on prime real estate, on the corner of the famous upscale shopping street (Newbury Street) and across the street from the beautiful Boston Common Park.

The Newbury Boston is a landmark hotel, originally opening as the Ritz-Carlton in 1927. The hotel was the first-ever Ritz-Carlton in the US under the Wyner family. In 2006, it was purchased by Taj Hotels and then rebranded into the Newbury Boston after an extensive renovation in 2021.

There is a nice lobby library for hotel guests and when I was visiting it was serving complimentary breakfast pastries and offered refreshments all day.

Room Tours

We toured a few room types at the Newbury, from a standard room to rooms with a Park View, a Classic Corner Park View Suite, and the Presidential Suite.

The property offers 286 guest rooms, with 44 of the 90 signature suites having fireplaces. There is also a fireplace butler for these room types where they can curate the best firewood selection which I found interesting.

I enjoyed the light tones of the decor of the room, and of course, bathrobes and slippers were provided. Also, bath products are from Byredo, which is a brand I enjoy.

The hotel offers rooms with views of the Boston Common, which is quite a nice view to have.

My Favorite Room Type: Classic Corner Park View Suite

I loved the living area of this suite, and the wood-burning fireplace was a nice touch. The bedroom offered a nice view of the park.

And last up, was the Presidential Suite. Of course, it was wow!

A side note, I loved the do-not-disturb tassels. Such a nice touch!

Amenities

The hotel offers a very large fitness center, and I have never seen such a stocked gym fridge before. The fridge had water, Gatorade, Nooma Sports Drinks, and Wellness Sodas.
