Qatar Airways is offering a special promotion where you can get instant Gold status from just one flight. This is oneworld Sapphire level, which unlocks lounge access and other perks right across the alliance.
It is an interesting promotion, clearly designed to pull people into the Qatar Airways Privilege Club. I would happily be doing this if I needed to, as you can’t get status this quickly anywhere.
Instant Gold Status
To take advantage of this promotion, you must be resident in Australia. This means the address in your Qatar Airways Privilege Club account must be there.
You next need to book a flight from Australia in business class or first class before 25 October 2019. Travel must be complete by 31 March 2020, which is a decent enough amount of time to organise things.
As it says, “To be eligible, register for this offer by 31 March 2020 or at least 24 hours prior to travel, whichever is earlier. To register, simply log into your membership account and select “My offers” from the dashboard menu.” Full details of the offer are available on this web page.
Overall Thoughts
Considering Qantas Frequent Flyer and Virgin Australia Velocity have the frequent flyer market locked up in Australia, this is an interesting push from Qatar Airways to grab some of that action. Both the incumbent Australian airlines wouldn’t dream of offering something this simple for status, so it should prove very appealing.
Instant Gold status means business class check-in, a higher luggage allowance, as well as lounge access and other perks. That oneworld Sapphire is the lowest level I like to have if at all possible as the benefits are definitely worth it. You can join the Privilege Club online easily enough.

With thanks to Executive Traveller.
Seriously? Thanks for the clickbait. Waste of my time to read this.
How is it clickbait? You get instant gold status from one flight, as the title says. Just because it may not be personally relevant to you does not make it clickbait. Thanks for clicking though!
you ‘travel bloggers’, all alike – shill credit cards and post clickbait.
Well, thank you for reading!
