Hyatt Cardholders Get 25% Off Award Stays This Summer!

Hyatt promotions are always a favorite for me. While they are typically not earth-shattering, they are generally good, offering moderate savings or bonus points on Hyatt stays. The Hyatt 2020 summer promotion that just launched is no exception.

Hyatt 2020 Summer Promotion

World of Hyatt is offering a reasonable number of bonus points as a “rebate” on award stays for program members. For general members of all elite tiers, you receive 15% of your points back after an award stay. This is increased to 25% for World of Hyatt co-branded cardholders. This is an excellent rebate.

Bonus Points will post directly to your World of Hyatt account and will not appear on your credit card statement. Maximum 30,000 Bonus Points per transaction may be earned under this offer (for a total of 60,000 Bonus Points per transaction). My understanding of this is that points rebates for cardholders (the extra 10%) posts as a separate transaction. There does not appear to be a limit on the number of stays/transactions during the promotion period.

Also enjoy free parking on award nights or points and cash nights (normally just a Globalist perk) during the Hyatt 2020 summer promotion. You do need to register, and the promotion period is from July 8 through October 8. You must register by September 1.

Final Thoughts

Personally, this might make me switch my planned night at the Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport from a free night to an award stay. The cash rate is $150 after taxes, which is more than I like to spend for a hotel, especially an airport hotel. However, the award rate is 12,000 points per night. This is a value of only 1.25 cents per point, well under the 1.7 I like to get.

With this promotion, however, I’ll receive 25% of the points back, taking the redemption value to 1.67 cents per point. This is acceptable, and it’d be nice to save the free night for a later point when I can get more value from it.
