Talk about traveler convenience…Imagine being able to dash out of the airport where you just landed and rush back home with a bag of grocery items that you know you need. Maybe they’re items from Whole Foods or perhaps Giant.

Well, now you can — if you live in Helsinki, anyway.

The Helsinki airport, which is run by Finavia, will on Sept. 15 launch a six-month pilot period with Finland’s largest online grocery store to give passengers a convenient shopping option, according to Finavia’s statement.

Customers will be able to order the items they want from the online store and select their pick-up time. When the items are ready and gathered in a pick-up locker, the customer will receive a text with a code that lets them open the locker. The pick-up service is available 24/7.

It’s the first such service in the Nordic countries, according to Anne Gullstén, Finavia’s director of passenger services. I haven’t seen this offered anywhere else, so please enlighten us if you’ve tried it somewhere else.
