Review: Hotel Vueling BCN by HC in Barcelona

Hotel Vueling BCN by HC is an airline and travel themed hotel in Barcelona, Spain. My friends booked this hotel due to its proximity to where our friends were staying and its competitive price. The web site states that Vueling by HC is “a new concept in urban hotels resulting from alliance between two leading brands in Europe’s tourist sector.” The two brands are Hotels Catalonia and Vueling Airlines and the hotel is certainly interesting!

Hotel Vueling BCN by HC

The hotel is fairly nondescript from the outside with the entrance being fairly subtle. Once inside, the lobby is small with a large sign reading “Welcome Onboard” to make you feel at home. My friends arrived the day before so they had already checked in for us all.

Design is quite fun with an aviation theme throughout the restaurant and lobby seating areas. Tables face a cockpit, there are aircraft windows and other little touches to make it seem like you might be on board an aeroplane. Needless to say, I approved!

Triple Room

The rooms are very nicely appointed with a chic modern design. Triple rooms feature an two single beds pushed together to make a double and opposite that is a smaller single bed. The single bed is no converted couch – despite appearances it was extremely comfortable for sleeping on.

Behind the main bed is a large picture and this is different in each room. A nice touch is that each room is named after a destination and the corresponding picture is something from that destination. We were in the Vienna room and our large picture was from that city. The bathroom consists of a basin and mirror in an alcove to the left of the entrance door, with a toilet to the left of that. Opposite the basin is a large walk in shower with a nice modern design. Very functional and very nice!

Overall Thoughts

Frankly I was surprised by how decent this hotel is for the price paid. The rooms are nicely air conditioned, clean and with a crisp design that is on point. The aviation and travel flourishes make the hotel stand out from the crowd. The hotel features a pool if you wish to swim and a restaurant I didn’t try. There are so many good restaurants nearby that you don’t need to eat in the hotel. Handily there is a supermarket on the corner a short walk from the hotel so you can stock up on water and other essentials. For a short stay in Barcelona I thoroughly recommend this hotel as it has everything you could need at a competitive price. Aviation buffs would like it to find all the interesting little homages to that industry. Thank you for reading and if you have any comments please leave them below.
