I have been blogging from time to time on the relationship between Royal Caribbean International and MGM’s M-Life. M-Life members can get certain benefits when cruising Royal Caribbean, and in return, Royal Caribbean elite status holders are eligible for status in the M-Life program. From there, frequent floaters can leverage the relationship between M-Life and Hyatt to obtain Hyatt Platinum status. The benefits are pretty basic, but certainly useful, especially the complimentary internet.

If you are already a Royal Caribbean Crown & Anchor elite member, you’re good to go. Remember, Royal Caribbean has elite status reciprocity with Celebrity Cruises and Azamara Club cruises. If you hold status with Celebrity or Azamara Club cruises, give Crown & Anchor a call and get your equivalent status with Royal Caribbean. I’ve already posted about the steps I took to obtain M-Life status based on my Diamond Plus status with Royal Caribbean. In summary, I signed up for M-Life online, then emailed them with my status information. In a few days, my M-Life status changed to Platinum. RCL Diamonds receive Gold status with M-Life, Platinums and Emeralds receive M-Life Pearl, and Golds receive M-Life Sapphire.

Once your M-Life status is reflected, you are then eligible for status with Hyatt based on your M-Life tier.

Reader Pam was our first person to try this, and I’ll post her comment here. (And thank you Pam for posting about this!!!)

I went from Celebrity Elite status (their highest), through RCL and then M Life, and finally to Hyatt Platinum status. I will be staying at my first Hyatt in Tampa at the end of the month for Frequent Traveler University. First I emailed RCL asking for status, once I had a RCL member #, I emailed M Life, got that status and member #, then emailed Hyatt. The process from Celebrity through Hyatt took about 2 weeks total.

It appears that you can do this online now by signing into your M-Life account and going to the partner page.

This will take you to the Hyatt website where you will find the option to “opt in” if you are already a Gold Passport member, or join if you are new to the program.

Vegas, nice Hyatt Hotels, or benefits on a cruise. Good times! If any other frequent floaters have been through this process, I’d love to hear from you.
