Last week, I wrote about some of the elevated offers on Amex’s co-branded Hilton Honors credit cards. For instance, the no annual fee Hilton card is offering a welcome bonus of 100,000 points. You can read this post for a comparison all the co-branded Hilton credit cards and elevated welcome bonuses currently available. Similarly, the Amex Everyday Preferred card is also offering a welcome bonus of 30,000 Membership Rewards points.

Amex Everyday Preferred Card Welcome Bonus

Amex usually offers a welcome bonus of 15,000 points with this card. However, I pulled up a refer-a-friend link showing me an elevated offer of 30,000 points instead of the standard 15,000 points. Moreover, you’ll also get the usual 0% intro APR with this offer.

On the Amex Everyday Preferred Card, you’ll earn a welcome bonus of 30,000 points after you spend $2,000 in the first three months.

(After clicking on the link above, you may see a bonus of 15,000 points. In that case, try opening the link again in incognito/private browsing mode. I was able to see the 30,000 points offer in incognito mode consistently)

There are many reasons why this is a great card to keep long term and use it for everyday expenses.

  • 0% Intro APR for the first 12 months
  • 3x points per dollar spent at Supermarkets (max $6,000 per year), 2x at Gas Stations, 1x on everything else
  • 50% points bonus when you use your card 30 times during a billing period
  • Ability to earn transferable Membership Rewards points
  • Car rental loss and damage insurance and Return Protection

Please note that the annual fee on the card is $95. Moreover, it does levy foreign transaction charges.

The Pundit’s Mantra

If you’re looking for a card for everyday purchases, then this card is a fantastic option. Firstly, you can earn a decent welcome bonus and a 0% APR for the first year. Secondly, you can effectively earn 4.5x per dollar spent at supermarkets if you max out the 30 purchase requirement each month. Thirdly, for a card that carries a $95 annual fee, you still have the option to transfer your points to many of Amex’s airline and hotel transfer partners.
