Over the last few days, Airlines have been swift to quickly make policy changes in response to the events that transpired last week. Last week, I wrote about how the association of flight attendants (AFA) was mulling over placing a ban on rioters from taking their return flights. However, it now seems like Delta has decided to put the people identified in the video on their ‘no fly’ list.

Delta No Fly List

Delta’s decision comes in response to videos of Graham and Romney that went viral. In the first video, Trump supporters seem to be following Graham as he exits and call him a traitor.

In the second video, Trump supporters approach Romney as he’s seated near the gate.

Delta confirmed the news about the ban to The Hill but refused to offer any specific details.

The ban comes as the Federal Aviation Administration said it will tighten enforcement of penalties against passengers that physically or verbally threaten airline crew or passengers.

The Pundit’s Mantra

This news comes right after the FAA also said that they plan to adopt a zero tolerance policy towards anyone harassing or abusing fellow passengers or crew members. For instance, if you make one transgression, you may be thrown out or penalized without any warnings, making this a first strike policy. Moreover, this could also include passengers who refuse to comply with social distancing and mask requirements on flights.

“First strike and you’re out. We applaud FAA Administrator Dickson for taking this clear stand for our safety and security,” Sara Nelson, the head of the largest flight attendants union, said in a statement to the AP. “This will help serve as a deterrent to unruly passengers who had been bucking the rules of aviation safety.”

In conclusion, we could well se a tightening of rules and regulations as we approach the Presidential inauguration. However, do you think that the FAA’s and Delta’s response is an overreach or is it justified? Tell us in the comments section.
