FINANCIAL (AND OTHER) LESSONS FROM CURRENT CRISIS IN BELARUS – Miles for Family
I had no idea things were this bad in Belarus, both politically and economically. I hope we see a peaceful resolution to a volatile situation.
I can relate. Between major changes weeks ahead of time, to last-minute changes I barely caught, flight changes have been annoying over the past few months. Where I can normally leverage them to something equivalent or better, the limited schedules make that all but impossible right now.
While I completely sympathize with the airlines, continuing to bail them out is not the answer. Throwing more dollars at them will not help, and I’ll vehemently disagree that “any time that you can keep employers with employees not being furloughed or laid off is a good thing.”
Layoffs hurt terribly. But there isn’t a viable alternative aside from government cash, and that needs to stop. What really needs to happen is travel needs to get back up and running.
