Doctor of Credit (H/T) reported yesterday that the Chase Sapphire Preferred has a targeted sign-up bonus. Chase is offering a bonus worth 80,000 Ultimate Rewards (UR) points after being approved for and then spending $4,000 on the Chase Sapphire Preferred.

Receiving this offer is a great opportunity for those who are new to points and miles. This is especially true because the Sapphire Preferred is Chase card that is subject to the Chase 5/24 Rule. And those who are new to points and miles are unlikely to be over 5/24.

This offer is highly targeted and cannot be found online. However, it can be found in your junk mail.

Chase Sapphire Preferred Card Overview

The Chase Sapphire Preferred Card is a great mid-tier travel card from Chase. It’s one of the best cards for people who are just getting into points and miles. And at $95 (the annual fee is NOT waived the first year), it’s a less expensive alternative to the Chase Sapphire Reserve.

Moreover, the Sapphire Preferred earns 2x UR points per dollar on Dining and Travel expenses. It also earns one point per dollar for all other expenses. This earning structure makes the Sapphire Preferred weak as a standalone card. However, it can become a low-cost powerhouse as part of a Chase Trifecta or Chase Quartet.

Plus, the Chase Sapphire Preferred has lots of great travel insurances including Trip Delay, Trip Cancellation, Baggage Delay, and Primary Car Rental insurances.

Caveats

Keep in mind that you are not eligible for this bonus if you have received a bonus for any Chase Sapphire card within the last 48 months. Plus, this offer counts towards the infamous Chase 5/24 Rule. It does not circumvent 5/24 like the online “Just for You” offers.

Final Draw

This is an incredible deal if you are targeted. It’s equivalent to the Chase Ink Business Preferred card’s public bonus for a minimum spend that’s $1,000 lower. The Chase Sapphire Preferred had a similar bonus but with a minimum spend of $20,000 back in 2018. But this bonus is much better because its minimum spend is the same as the public bonus.

Look through your junk mail because you may find an extra 20,000 UR points waiting for you. Furthermore, this card could be a great way to start or build a Chase Trifecta or Quartet. Those who are new to points and miles should look into getting Chase cards first because of the 5/24 Rule. And this bonus could be a huge opportunity for future travel.
