Finally! British Airways have restored their Club World meal service

British Airways have noticeably lagged behind their competitors when it comes to their business class meal service. The news that this has finally been restored to how it was before the pandemic is welcome indeed.

I have been actively choosing to fly other oneworld alliance airlines because of this. While not a big deal to some, the food in Club World is one of the most important parts of the experience for me. Now it seems I can go back to flying BA long-haul.

BA Restored Service From 28 October 2022

Flying from Sydney to London prior to this date, I endured the single tray service. While food quality was fine, it was hardly a premium experience and when paying all that money, I expect more.

Happily, meals will once again be served course by course as is fitting for a premium cabin. Also, soups and warm desserts are back, according to the BA press release. Express service is also back, for those who want to take-off, eat quickly and sleep. This is especially useful on eastbound transatlantic flights during winter, when flights can be quite short.

Overall Thoughts

Well, it took them long enough, didn’t it? It is reported that the restored service on board can take some time, so hopefully the crews will get used to it and find their groove sooner rather than later. While I like to enjoy a meal, having all the courses take three hours is perhaps a bit much.

Either way, food quality on BA is great, all that is really changing are the portion sizes and the reintroduction of other elements that were discontinued due to the pandemic. I’m glad to hear it, as I will be flying with them in February to give it a whirl.
