Airport Lounge : Luxx Lounge at Frankfurt airport review.
https://www.frankfurt-airport.com/en/services/lounges/luxxlounge.html
I was passing through Frankfurt airport twice in 5 days and I ended up popping into the Luxx Lounge on both trips. It was my first time in Frankfurt and I was not sure about terminals and distances in the airport. So because I had about 4 hours to my flight I decided to visit Luxx even though it is outside security. This is the first lounge I have been in that you access before passing through security.
As you can see from the board there are a lot of ways you can have access. I was using Priority Pass for this visit. The lounge is on the upper level from the main Lufthansa check-in area. We landed at 05h35 with an onward flight at 10h55 so I was at the entrance along with about 8 other people when the lounge opened on time at 6h30.
It does not have a lot of food options but it is a quieter area to hang out in with a cup of coffee.
The lady at the front desk was charming. She checked cards and tickets, made sure I had the wifi code and pointed out that the lounge extends on both sides.
They have a lovely collection of magazines and newspapers available for reading and keeping.
This clock display is also in the lobby for reference. I do not remember a departures monitor in the lounge so displays like this are useful.
The food and drinks:
Here are some carbs for enjoyment. Buns and bread for toasting, sausages with mustard and tomato sauce.
There were chicken nuggets and hot dogs available. I did not need much as I had had breakfast on the flight before landing, and I knew there would be lunch an hour after take off on the next flight.
Some scrambled eggs, tomatoes, cheese and pasta. Overall the snack type food was great.
My favorite cappuccino maker and other drinks. Nice tea and coffee cups and all the condiments needed.
The fridge has a collection of sodas and beer.
The bar was quite comprehensive, all the good spirits available. There was a good variety of snacks available, nuts, crisps, crackers, pretzels and such.
Here is a view of the one area of the lounge. I was spread out with coffee, snacks and newspaper. Below is the view of the second lounge area. The chairs have definitely seen better days but are still comfortable.
The restroom:
Pleasant enough restroom and shower facility.
This printer was also available in case you needed something printed.
Plaza Premium lounge:
Once I was through security and on my way to the gate I had seen that there was a Plaza Premium lounge near my gate. I decided to pop in to see what it is like.
There was the dreaded sign on the door. “Dear passengers, this lounge is temporarily closed. We ask for your understanding.”
There was no indication of that status on the app. I was pleased that I had decided to use Luxx on my second visit too. Imagine if I had checked in, taken the train to the terminal, and then found that the lounge was closed.
Conclusion:
The Luxx lounge is by no means fancy or anything you would recommend to your friends. It was the most basic Priority Pass lounge I have experienced but it still served its purpose.
Good coffee, some snack items, a quiet place to relax and even to snooze.
In Frankfurt this is the only lounge listed in Terminal 1, There are also 2 Be Relax Spa’s listed with services available.
In Terminal 2 there are 3 lounges listed, Prime Class, Priority and Air France lounge (Schengen flights only). They look like good lounges from their pictures. Maybe next time.
I’ve visited there often. Nothing fancy, but some German hotdogs, mustard and bread for free
held me over until my flight. Drinks were ok, too.
Yes JRG, it is a bit basic but it is a place to hang out for free.
