Aer Lingus Announce New Route to Miami

The Flight Detective
a plane flying in the sky

Aer Lingus will start services between Dublin to Miami from Friday, 1 September 2017. Flights are available for booking on the web site now. Service will be three times weekly with flights departing on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. These are the first direct flights between Ireland and Miami by Aer Lingus and will cater to the cruise market as well as passengers heading to Central America and Caribbean destinations.

The return flight, EI140, will depart Miami at 21:10 on the same days and arrive into Dublin the following day at 10:35. Services will be operated by Airbus 330 aircraft.

The addition of Miami means Aer Lingus will now serve nine destinations in the USA. These are New York JFK, Boston, Chicago, Orlando, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Hartford, and New York Newark. The strategy to use Dublin as a connecting hub for services between the United States and Europe is quite successful.

Flying Aer Lingus

Aer Lingus offer a competitive product across the Atlantic. Business Class is very comfortable no matter if it’s a day service or an overnight service.

In Economy Class, all seats feature individual entertainment screens and a selection of pre-order meals are available for people to enhance their culinary experience on board.

Frequent flyers will be able to earn Avios on Aer Lingus flights from later this month when the new Aer Club finally launches. The new club brings Aer Lingus into line with British Airways and Iberia who also use Avios as their currency.

Overall Thoughts

Transatlantic expansion at Aer Lingus continues apace. The carrier is considering the Airbus A321neo to open further routes in the future. The airline is one to watch as they are expanding at a good rate right now and this should continue as time passes. My appreciation to JAmie2k9 and Miami on the Airliners.net forums for the heads up on the new service.

Great blog, but just one thing – I think you meant to say “…first flights between Ireland and south Florida…” 🙂

Flight Detective

Thanks very much, I’ve corrected it now to just say Miami! I think that was my racing fingers writing of their own accord 🙂 Appreciate the extra eyes and the kind words!
