Review: Aer Lingus A321neo AerSpace from Amsterdam to Dublin

You can experience the A321neo AerSpace cabin on the Amsterdam to Dublin route, among others. Instead of the European style middle seat free, these aircraft feature the long-haul lie flat seats. For a flight a little over an hour, it’s quite luxurious.

Before flight, I spent time in the oneworld alliance lounge in Amsterdam, which comes with the AerSpace ticket. This is an excellent lounge and worth getting to the airport a little early for.

After spending time in the lounge, I headed down to the D gates. Boarding had not yet started, but I didn’t have to wait long. Years of experience flying means I usually arrive at the gate minutes before things kick off.

I was one of the first on board and we waited on the aerobridge for a few minutes before being allowed on board. The AerSpace cabin is of course usually a transatlantic business class cabin, so it’s quite comfortable.

Once everyone was on board, we headed out to the runway. Happily it was a short taxi, as it can be quite long at Schiphol airport, and soon enough we were in the air.

On Board Service

AerSpace is not business class, and this is reflected in the on board service. Many passengers in the big seats on this flight had been moved up the front for weight and balance purposes (the A321neo is known to be niggly in this area at all airlines). When I ordered, she was going to charge me, but I told her I had actually paid for AerSpace, unlike what appeared to be everyone else (at least four others, maybe more).

I ordered the Pork Sausage & Sweetcure Bacon Breakfast Wrap. This comes heated and I’ve had it before – it’s a perfect snack for a flight, and is very tasty. From there we proceeded to Dublin and landed on time and without incident, just as it should be.

Overall Thoughts

Aer Lingus A321neo AerSpace is easily the nicest way to travel in that cabin at the Irish airline. Having a proper big seat instead of the usual middle seat free makes a big difference to a flight, just like it did when I flew a Finnair A350 from Helsinki to London in their wonderful Air Lounge.

If you can find it for a small price differential over the Plus and Advantage fares, it’s a no brainer to take. You get 50 Tier Points for each flight which is also helpful for moving up in AerClub.
