100,000 points offer on the Chase Sapphire Reserve (Targeted)

Chase Sapphire Reserve

At the outset, this seems like a highly targeted offer. However, it’s probably the best offer we’ve seen for a long time on the Chase Sapphire Reserve, after we saw the initial 100,000 points bonus right after Chase launched the card launched in 2016.

Targeted Chase Sapphire Reserve Offer for 100,000 Points

Chase is targeting customers for this offer via regular mail. As per Doctor of Credit, waqaszm1 posted on My FICO Forums about a targeted offer for the card. According to this post, Chase sent this offer via mail as a ‘pre approved’ offer. Here are some of the details we have:

  • 100,000 Ultimate Rewards points welcome bonus after spending $10,000 (time to meet minimum spend requirement wasn’t posted, but I’m assuming it could be three months)
  • Annual fee waived for the first year for the primary cardmember and up to two authorized users

As per the original post, the user reported to already having a credit line of up to $1 million, as well as $50,000 in a Chase Checking Account.

Public Offer

The million dollar question is whether we’ll see a 100,000 points offer available to the public very soon. Looking at this offer, it seems largely unlikely given the income and deposit levels for which this offer was targeted. Also, there are other restrictions like the One Sapphire Rule, 2/48 and 5/24 already in place.

If you’re eligible, then you can apply for the Chase Sapphire Preferred instead. The card comes with a $95 annual fee and is currently offering a limited time welcome bonus of 80,000 Ultimate Rewards Points after your spend $4,000 in the first three months. However, are you eligible? Check out this post to find out.

The Pundit’s Mantra

Overall, this seems like an offer that is more likely to go out to a very small subset of individuals above a certain income or deposit threshold. However this is 2020 and I’d love Chase to prove me wrong and roll this offer out to more prospective customers.
