Background on Wynn Buffet Closure:
Earlier in June, I wrote about how The Buffet at Wynn was the first buffet on the Las Vegas Strip to announce reopening since all resort buffets were closed due to COVID-19 concerns. The buffet was more like a hybrid of a traditional full-service restaurant with the experience of an all you can eat buffet. Similar to the main dining room of a cruise ship.
Possible Return In The Future:
Just two months later, Wynn has announced that the buffet will be closing its doors indefinitely on Monday, September 7th at 8pm, at the end of the Labor Day long weekend.
According to a Wynn representative, “Based upon guest feedback, we found that many guests prefer a more traditional buffet experience over the served all-you-can-eat format.”The hotel stated that they would “continue to assess the situation” and the buffet could open at some point later in the future.
With The Buffet at Wynn’s closure, in the Las Vegas area it seems that the only buffet currently open is the The Garden Buffet at the South Point Casino. It is also restaurant style with a staff served buffet experience similar to what the Wynn was doing.
I’ve eaten at the Buffet at Wynn at the beginning of 2020 and a few times last year and enjoyed my dining experience. I’m curious to see when other buffets will reopen, or if this closure foreshadows the fate of the Vegas Buffet?
