The American Express Gold Card Has a Targeted Bonus

The American Express Gold Card is a great option for foodies!

Doctor of Credit (H/T) reported yesterday that the American Express Gold Card has a targeted sign-up bonus. American Express is offering a bonus worth 70,000 Membership Rewards (MR) points upon approval for the Gold Card. Plus, the minimum spend for this bonus is $4,000, which is the same as the public bonus.

Receiving this offer is an excellent opportunity for those who are new to points and miles. This is especially true because the Gold Card is subject to the infamous Amex Once Per Lifetime Rule.

This offer is highly targeted and cannot be found online. However, it can be found in your “snail” mail.

American Express Gold Card Overview

The American Express Gold Card is a great mid-tier travel card. Plus, it is one of the best charge cards for people who have large grocery and dining expenses. And it’s a less expensive alternative to the Chase Sapphire Reserve.

Moreover, the Gold Card earns 4x MR points per dollar on Dining and Grocery Store expenses. It also earns 3x MR points per dollar for travel purchased via amextravel.com. Plus, it earns one point per dollar for non-bonus spend.

Plus, the Gold Card has lots of great travel insurances including Trip Delay, Trip Cancellation, Baggage Delay, and Secondary Car Rental insurances. The Gold Card also comes with a $100 annual Airline Incidental credit and $120 in dining credits. The dining credits may only be used at select restaurants and they are divided into 12 monthly credits worth $10 each.

Such credits are countered by the Gold Card’s $250 annual fee, which is not waived during the first year. However, the Gold Card’s “net annual fee” is just $30 if you can use the credits in full each year.

Final Draw

This targeted offer is the highest I have ever seen for the American Express Gold Card. In fact, it is worth double the points offered with the standard public offer. However, you cannot receive this amazing bonus if you have received a bonus for the Gold Card in the past.

Look through your junk mail because you may find another 35,000 MR points waiting for you. Furthermore, this card could be a great way to start or build an inventory of MR points. And this bonus could be a huge opportunity for future travel.
