Staying at the AC hotel in Scottsdale for as few days. It is on the property of the Westin Kierland hotel and resort. In fact you are closer to the Kierland convention center (it is right across the road) than if you stay at the Kierland itself.
The room rate is between $163 and $322 in September and between $256 and $436 in October. The rates seem totally dependent on how busy conventions are.

The room:
This is the view from my room overlooking the entrance to the hotel and the convention area across the road.
A reasonably standard room with double bed, desk and chair, settee and table.
A safe and refrigerator in the tv unit. Coffee machine with tea bags and ice bucket. Paper cups again! (On my vacations this year I loved that you get china tea cups in South Africa and England.)
Open cupboard with hangars, an ironing board and iron. The Bible, Book of Mormon and laundry list in the drawer.
The desk and chair with nice lamp and wall plugs. Nice that they supply a pad to write on.
A rather comfortable settee with table for relaxing and viewing the tv.
The bathroom:
The bathroom was a pleasant surprise. Nice fixtures and toiletries as well as a useful towel, shoe shiner and magazine caddy.
A nice shower with removable head for hand spraying. Pleasant toiletries from Korres. Not sure where they are from but they have greek translations on the bottles.
All in all a pleasant stay for the money spent. Some of the hotels in Scottsdale can get really expensive, I guess partly because if you need to stay in the area for your event you are a captive market, and because some of the hotels are fancy resorts and need to pay for their facilities.
There is a pool and a gym available. We did not eat anything at the hotel on this stay.
The value astounds. I just published a review of a hotel complex in Johannesburg where you can stay in 5 star luxury for under $200 because of the great exchange rate, and here we have to pay between $160 and $430 for an average 3 star stay.
Enjoyed my stay in Phoenix, nice hotels but you will mostly pay more than you think you should.
