See, Delta Loves Me Afterall

Who knew that I did not even need to do my own SkyMiles math when then new program was introduced last month? On Wednesday, I got an email from Delta and it seems they’d done a little math for me.

It seems that based on my past travel, I’ll likely earn more miles under the new program. Of course, I’d figured that out already, but I thought this was an interesting marketing email. Any other Delta flyers get the same? Did everyone get the same email? Just curious. In this case, I agree with Delta, I’ll likely earn more miles under the new program. What’s your situation?

  1. My email said “Dear Mr Johnson…The 2015 Skymiles program looks like it will suck for you”

Yes…I will lose a lot of miles but I am actually feeling nice towards Delta today. I have a date specific trip from Florida to Bangkok and return. I found a $1800 fare online in economy and I called the Diamond Medallion phone line to see about applying the new Global Upgrade Certificates. I had a wonderful agent who helped me and I had to fly to Narita through JFK instead of Atlanta but I am in Business Elite all the way for the $1800.

    Feeling better about Delta!

  2. I got it, I’m a DM for last 2 years. Based on the majority of my travel last year I’d come out ahead, but based on my projected travel this year I’ll seriously getting screwed – my average rt ticket is down $150 – $200 so far.

  3. I did not get it … based on my calculations I would have earned 1/3 of the miles I earned.

    Bye bye Delta!

  4. I got the same one. I guess if I take my normal trips to London this year, 3-4, in business, I guess it works. I will say, looking at prices, on the BOS-LON route they are a lot more expensive then BA or even Virgin. That may change, but if it doesnt, I might have to go Virgin (which I like alot), or do Oneworld.

  5. I did not get this email from delta. At the same time, I don’t believe I will earn more miles under the new provisions.

  6. I got one, too.

With tons of short runs that start with a connection between MYR-ATL and then on to wherever, I might come out slightly ahead.

    We’ll see…
