In my last post, I promised to review our accommodation in Placencia, Belize. Belize is a beautiful country. It may not look like it when you land, with sub-par amenities. However if your goal is to experience the tourist destinations like Ambergris Caye, then you certainly will see modern and upscale features. We decided to head to Placencia. It is a less touristy destination for relaxation purposes. And more importantly because we wanted a more private experience.
I actually stumbled on Wild Orchid after an exhaustive search on Airbnb, Booking.com, Expedia and others. However, I ended up booking directly with the residence manager directly for logistics purposes. Our party of 12 needed at least a 6 bedroom. However, we couldn’t find any house in Belize within our modern taste that size. We made a difficult decision to split up the group, and ended up with Wild Orchid beach house and a lagoon house (Villa Guava). Villa Guava is a sophisticated, chic and stylish house nestled on a 30-acre property surrounded by lush palm trees and the Caribbean ocean. The property has an elegant and luxurious yacht on site that has supposedly hosted the likes of Reese Witherspoon and Bill Gates.
As a family of 3, we shared Villa Guava, a 3-bedroom with another family of 3. They took the master bedroom, while we took two rooms. This arrangement was convenient for my 7-year old daughter, who had a room to herself. Although her girlfriends rotated sleeping in her room the entire time there, super fun!
Villa Guava is a modern vacation home with contemporary style design and aesthetics. With a full functional kitchen, laundry room and a master bedroom to die for! Everyone felt absolutely at home. The kids spent endless amount of time in the swimming pool and the beach. The living room opened up to the dining room and infinity pool, overlooking the Caribbean ocean. This property comes with a roof deck which was the highlight of our first night there where we all gathered to relax, drink tea, and danced.
Read on for additional pictures of Villa Guava that will absolutely blow your mind!
PS: Can anyone guess what I love the most about this house?
Nice looking place. One thing that puzzles me is that the website doesn’t list any prices, just a “click here to book” button. Like almost everyone, I’m reluctant to book anything without knowing the price. How much is a week? Also, was it far to get groceries?
Christian,
Yes there is no price on the website. Feel free to check on Airbnb or email them directly and they will call you as soon as possible. That worked for me! Also, the groceries are not walking distance, you can bike there or get them on your way to other activities. It’s not too far either, cos we went grocery shopping at least 5-6 times.
