Qantas 737 Refurbishment Program Announced!
Qantas has revealed plans to refresh its Boeing 737 cabins, which will include new business and economy class seats. The updates are part of the airline’s ongoing effort to improve the flying experience for passengers. This cabin overhaul is set to begin in 2027, specifically targeting popular international routes such as those to New Zealand, Fiji, Vanuatu, and Bali. This initiative is part of their fleet refurbishment program. This includes the upcoming introduction of Airbus A321XLR.

New 737 Interiors
Qantas will introduce the same business and economy seats for its Boeing 737 fleet as their A321XLR. While specific details regarding the seat dimensions were not revealed, the new seats should enhance passenger comfort. The seat will include personal device holders and fast satellite Wi-Fi. The airline will also upgrade overhead compartments to accommodate more carry-ons. This change is expected to modernize the aircraft and match their A321XLRs interiors. Further specifics on the seat style and features, like legroom, have not yet been disclosed, however it’s expected to include a reduction in business class seat recline.

Upcoming A321XLR
The airline is preparing for the arrival of the Airbus A321XLR, which will be delivered starting in 2025. The A321XLR aircraft will operate on both domestic and medium-haul international routes and will gradually replace the older Boeing 737 aircraft. The A321XLR promises a quieter, more spacious cabin compared to the 737. This aircraft will help Qantas enhance its service on regional routes, contributing to the overall fleet modernization project and passenger experience. The new 737 interiors will match those in the upcoming A321XLRs.

Conrado’s Thoughts
Qantas’ plans to upgrade its Boeing 737 cabins and introduce the Airbus A321XLR show their intention to improving passenger comfort and fleet efficiency. Whether these changes are actual passenger improvements remains to be seen. The airline expects to enhance the overall flying experience on both domestic and international routes with these changes. While details are still limited, especially regarding the 737 seat details, the move signals a continuation to their fleet refurbishment, along with their A330-200 and sister company Jetstar’s 787s.
