United Airlines passengers will be able to experience international standard Polaris business class on domestic flights from January 2019. The brand new Boeing 787-10 aircraft will operate certain transcontinental routes.

This should up the ante in the transcontinental product wars in the United States. All the airlines have their best product on these services, but does Polaris pip them all?

Polaris Business Class

Seats in Polaris convert to a full flat 6’6″ bed for sleeping. On overnight sectors, this ensures a comfortable sleep regardless of your height. You can even use it for a nap during the day time if you wish.

Ample storage is provided with a laptop slot, a personal cubby, under-ottoman areas and more. Device charging is also provided at each seat, which is pretty much the standard nowadays.

Which Domestic Flights Will Have Polaris?

Return flights between New York Newark and Los Angeles are due to commence on 7 January. Leaving New York, UA275 will depart at 18:00, arriving into Los Angeles at 21:06, after a journey of 6 hours and 6 minutes.

Those going from Los Angeles will find Polaris on the flight leaving at 08:15 and arriving in Newark at 16:19. This is UA2418 and the flight time is 5 hours and 4 minutes.

Passengers heading to San Francisco from New York Newark are also in for some Polaris fun from Valentine’s day. You’ll want UA637 departing from EWR at 09:00 and arriving at 12:16, with a 6 hour and 16 minute timing.

Departing San Francisco, it is UA2319. This flight leaves at 14:00 and gets into New York at 22:00 after a relatively quick 5 hours aloft. All flights are operated by the brand new Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner.

Overall Thoughts

Additional services on these two routes will be added from March when SFO will go thrice daily and April, when LAX will go twice daily. This should mean ample opportunity for those wishing to give Polaris a try on the new aircraft.
