I’ve been to Paris several times, but always on business. This is actually my first real “visit” to Paris, and the first time that my wife and I have visited together. I have a “no alarm clocks” rule on vacation. My wife does not have such a rule, so we have compromised and set lots of alarm clocks. She is making sure we experience Paris and all it has to offer. Some typical tourist stuff, and some not so typical. Yesterday, we walked over 10 miles and I hit 25,000 steps on my FitBit….not that I didn’t need it. Her 5 years of French language study has paid off too. In short, I like visiting Paris to play much more than I did to work. 🙂 Here are just a few thoughts on our first days in Paris.

We flew over on Delta in Business on the 747-400. Trip report forthcoming. Bottom line – that is Delta’s best business class product.

Paris Pass – worth the price for us. We’ve made full use of Metro along with multiple museum and other options. Skipping the massive line to buy tickets at the Louvre may have been worth the price itself.

La basilique du Sacré-Cœur – amazing city views, even if the weather has been a bit cloudy and cool. Climbing to the top of the dome, worth the 300 steps.

Watching the Eiffel Tower light up at dusk from a river cruise was grand.

In short, it’s been an awesome trip so far, and between the hotel and the flight, one of my favorite award redemptions. Back on the grid after a few days off.
