You might remember my post from a couple days ago about an interesting email I received from US Airways. The email implied that 1,000 miles had been deposited into my Dividend Miles account, but a quick look at usairways.com showed no new miles. It seems a lot of people got the same email based on this milepoint thread. Tonight, I received bad news from US Airways. They really didn’t mean to send that email to me, and they’re sorry. Here’s the text:
“Earlier this week, we inadvertently delivered an email message to many of our Dividend Miles members’ email accounts. Unfortunately, one of those accounts was yours. Worse, this email incorrectly stated that we posted 1,000 Dividend Miles into your account. This was not accurate and the email message was sent in error.
We apologize for any inconvenience this might have caused you and appreciate your understanding.”
Oh well, life goes on. I suppose it would’ve been an awfully standup move if US had given me the miles anyway, but that’s not gonna happen. You won’t read any angry blog posts or Tweets from me about it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of people make some noise about this goof up. Wonder how this happened?
Update, April 12, 2011: US Airways is making good on their miles mess-up if you give them a call. 1.800.428.4322, option 3.
No if you call you get them:

Got mine in about 2 min! Yeah me!
Thanks deltagold!
This just goes to show what a total joke US Airways is. A bunch of clowns with a second- or third-rate airline. Does a 1,000 US Airways miles matter much? No. Was anyone who got the first e-mail expecting to get 1,000 miles out of the blue? No. But – – wouldn’t the good will of just going ahead, and while making everyone aware of the mistake, just going through with the 1,000 mile giveaway in the first place? Especially since they announced earlier this week they are going to enter the modern era of aviation and add a first-class… Read more »
