Today, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced it has extended TSA PreCheck (Pre✓®) expedited screening benefits to students of the four U.S. service academies — U.S. Military Academy, Naval Academy, Coast Guard Academy and Air Force Academy. These cadets/midshipmen now eligible for expedited screening just as members of our U.S. Military have been at more than 120 participating airports when flying on 11 major airlines.
In a TSA press release, TSA Administrator John S. Pistole states:
This week, as we recognize veterans of our armed forces, we are grateful to the brave men and women in uniform who continue to serve our nation with honor and distinction. Providing expedited screening while on travel is the least we can do for our military and service academies.
This time last year, such TSA PreCheck benefits were granted to all U.S. Armed Forces service members, including those serving in the U.S. Coast Guard, Reserves and National Guard. The same benefits now apply to cadets and midshipmen.
