Amex recently revamped many of their cards. This was a swift response to changing customer behavior in the midst of the Covid19 pandemic. While these may not be lucrative for a few, these new benefits offer a few opportunities to maximize value. Amex is offering one such benefit on their Business Platinum card, by offering up to $400 as a statement credit this year.
$400 Amex Credit
In addition to the airline fee credit, Business Platinum cardholders will get an extra $200 in statement credits. Here’s how this will work. You can read the full FAQ here.
- Instead of the usual $100, members will receive an extra $100, totaling to $200 as a credit for purchases on Dell.com from May 1 to June 30th

Activation
Before you make a purchase, you need to activate the offer by logging into your Business Platinum Card account. However, no additional enrollment is required for you to earn the extra $200 in credit which is available this year.
Multiple Options
Here’s a list of options at your disposal to make purchases on Dell.com. In order to make use of the full $400 credit, you can split your purchases into two bunches. $200 for the period of May 1 – June 30 and another $200 for the period of July 1 – Dec 30.
Depending on your requirements, you can mix and match different product options in order to ensure that you utilize the full $400. In this list, I’ve tried my best to cover most product categories and brands. For the purpose of this post, I’ve included most products that are in the price range of $0 – $400. You will find other more expensive versions of the same products from different brands on the website as well.

Other Options
Many would ask if gift cards qualify for these purchases. As per this post by Doctor of Credit, Dell gift cards don’t work. However, certain data points suggest that Xbox gift cards purchased on Dell.com do trigger the credit. Also, Dell allows you to split the purchase between two credit cards.
Amex Offers
Quite often, Amex offers give you an additional 10% on Dell.com purchases. Before you purchase, please check your Amex offers as this gives you a great deal stacking opportunity.

The Pundit’s Mantra
While the Business Platinum Card has a hefty $595 annual fee, you can gain great value by shopping $400 worth electronics with these credits. I use this benefit to buy monitors, headphones and smart home devices. Also, ever since Amex restored the WeWork benefit, this card is a net positive for me as I frequently use the WeWork benefit.
Currently, you’ll earn a welcome bonus of 85,000 Membership Rewards points if you sign up for the Business Platinum card and meet the minimum spend.
