AA Flagship Lounge LAX Bottom Line
Introduction
Having arrived about an hour late into LAX from MIA, my new flight to SFO was about three hours later. I decided to take advantage and go visit the LAX Flagship Lounge. The Admirals Club at LAX is good, but I had never visited the Flagship Lounge. I walked over to the entrance and presented my boarding pass, both for the inbound and for the flight to SFO. The nice agent welcomed me in, and told me to take a left upon reaching the second floor club. She also handed me a key card, which I would need to enter the lounge.
Flagship Lounge LAX
Once inside the lounge, another agent took my boarding pass once again, and when verified, she gave me a short tour of the lounge. The lounge looks like a normal Admiral’s Club, but with much less people. It has good views of Delta’s T5 at LAX and of departing aircraft.
The long hall and high ceilings give it a sense of spaciousness that you would not expect normally at an AA lounge. Seats were comfortable and there were plentiful power ports to charge up.
The Food Spread
The main difference between an Admiral’s Club and a Flagship Lounge is the food available. In a normal Admirals Club, there are snacks, such as veggies and dip, soup and cookies, plus food for sale. Here, there was an actual buffet. The food consisted of a beef stew alongside steamed rice. It was good enough to hit the spot, but it wasn’t no where near restaurant quality food. Nonetheless, it was better than paying for food at the Admiral’s Club. They also had snacks, and salad available for each person to grab. There was a coffee machine, self-serve alcohol bar, and a fridge which had non-alcoholic drinks.
Showers
About an hour before my SFO departure, I requested to take a shower. The Flagship Lounge has its own set of showers. They were clean and stocked with Red Flower products. It was a nice amenity to be able to take a shower before a long evening-day traveling to London.
After my shower, and having befriended the agent at the lounge, the agent came to get me 10 minutes before boarding started for my flight. Soon, I would be on board to SFO.
Landing Thoughts
My chance to visit the Flagship Lounge at LAX and compare it to the one in JFK, I could see that although the LAX lounge is larger and has higher ceilings, the JFK offers more food options. The staff was very friendly, and helpful. The food was mediocre at best, but the showers were a clean and nice, so a welcome amenity. I would much prefer to take time here at the Flagship Lounge than at an Admiral’s Club any day!
