LATAM are spending US$400 million on upgrading the interior of their aircraft over the next three years. The latest interior on their new Boeing 787 and Airbus A350 is only four years old and this will eventually be replaced.
The Airbus A320 fleet will receive Wi-Fi, new seats and USB charging ports for devices. All of this is planned to elevate LATAM to offering an industry leading on board experience.
New Business Class Interior
Business class on international services will receive an all new seat. It will be introduced first on a Boeing 767 at the end of 2018. From there it will roll out onto a total of ten Boeing 767s, nine Boeing 777 aircraft and new deliveries of Airbus A350-1000 and Boeing 787-9s.
Overall Thoughts
Upgrading to a new seat so quickly after the last one means that LATAM certainly have their eye on the ball. While the existing seat is quite comfortable, it is not on trend as people are now all expecting direct aisle access, which the current seat does not quite do.
Installing Internet and device charging is gradually arriving on all airlines as the technology is now mature enough to support it. All of this means LATAM will continue to be an airline of choice throughout South America.
