For many frequent travelers, the Southwest Companion Pass provides immense value. It helps them reduce the cost of their travel and provides a great deal of options in order to maximize the companion pass during a given year. Usually, one needs to fly 100 qualifying flights one way or earn 125,000 qualifying points in a year in order to earn the companion pass. Southwest Rapid Rewards Plus Credit Card
After you spend $5,000 in the first three months, you’ll get the Southwest Companion Pass (valid till Feb 28, 2022), plus an additional 30,000 bonus points. This offer ends on March 10, 2021.
Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier Credit Card
After you spend $5,000 in the first three months, you’ll get the Southwest Companion Pass (valid till Feb 28, 2022) and also earn 30,000 bonus points. This offer ends on March 10, 2021.
Southwest Rapid Rewards Priority Credit Card
After you spend $5,000 in the first three months, you’ll get the Southwest Companion Pass (valid till Feb 28, 2022) and an additional 30,000 bonus points. This offer ends on March 10, 2021.
Southwest Rapid Rewards Business Credit Card
You’ll earn 70,000 points after you spend $5,000 in the first 3 months. Moreover, you’ll earn an additional 30,000 points after you spend a total of $25,000 in the first six months. Overall, you’ll earn a total of 135,000 points after you meet the minimum spend. That’s more than the threshold of 125,000 qualifying points needed in order to earn the Southwest Companion Pass.
The Pundit’s Mantra
If Southwest is your airline of choice, then the Companion Pass is a fantastic benefit to have, especially for couples or families. I don’t find the Companion Pass as useful as I rarely fly Southwest as most of my travel is usually international in nature.
However, as travel opens up, we may see a sudden jump in domestic travel numbers. If you plan to travel to some of the international destinations and many of the domestic locations that Southwest serves, then the Companion Pass could go a long way in reducing your overall cost of travel.
