Home Again

I’ve made it through a busy, but successful week in Atlanta. Delta was fine, upgrades cleared both ways, even returning on Friday afternoon at 5pm. The only odd thing was on the return to Washington (DCA) yesterday. The lead flight attendant didn’t seem to have gotten the memo that the stupid 30-minute rule requiring passengers to be strapped into their seats and not to be out of them again until landing was eliminated at least two years ago. Of course, no one (including myself) said anything. You never know if you’ll be threatened with arrest for passively questioning anything on an airplane anymore. The restroom rush was quite comical, and unnecessary. Maybe someone from Delta will read this post and let the flight leader on DL 820 from ATL to DCA on September 5th know that the 30-minute rule is no more. I’d send a note to Delta, but I don’t want it to be perceived as a complaint, because aside from this, the lead flight attendant was great.

I completed my second stay at the W Atlanta Midtown. I was upgraded to a “Spectacular Room” this trip. Only difference I noticed from last time was that the room was bigger. Amenities appeared the same to me. I was on the 23rd floor with a great view of downtown Atlanta, so I have no complaints. I have yet to make to Whiskey, I just couldn’t get there. I spent most evenings working in my hotel room. I did try one new restaurant, Einsteins, which was within walking distance of the hotel. I didn’t do the fine dining thing, opting for a quick burger and a beer instead. The burger was fine, and service was good. Try the sweet potato fries if you get a chance.

I’m glad to be home. I’m here just in time to batten down the hatches in advance of what’s left of Tropical Storm Hanna as she passes near D.C.
