Yesterday, I wrote about the amazing 100,000 Ultimate Rewards points welcome bonus on the Ink Business Preferred card. Moreover, the spend requirement is almost half. You can refer to this post for all the details about that awesome offer. When it comes to consumer credit cards, the Chase Sapphire Preferred card continues to be one of my long term favorites. After Chase refreshed the Chase Sapphire Preferred card, one of the new benefits that they added was the $50 Chase hotel credit. As someone who has carried the Chase Sapphire Preferred card in his wallet for many years, this has been a great new additional benefit to the card. Moreover, Chase has kept the annual fee at $95 in spite of adding new benefits.
CHASE HOTEL CREDIT GUIDE
In addition to the $50 credit, the Chase Sapphire Preferred card also offers amazing return on day to day spend in select categories.
- 5x points on travel booked via Chase Ultimate Rewards travel website
- 3x points on streaming services, select online grocery purchases and on dining/takeout/food delivery services
- 2x points on all other travel purchases
- 1x point on all other purchases
As of now, the Chase Sapphire Preferred card is offering a welcome bonus of 60,000 Ultimate Rewards points after you spend $4,000 in the first 3 months of card membership. If you simply redeem the points via Chase’s portal, you’ll get a minimum value of $750.
As seen in the screenshot below, the hotel credit posts pretty quickly once you make a qualifying purchase.
How to activate this benefit?
The benefit is automatic, you don’t need to activate. The benefit gets activated as soon as your new membership year starts.
Does this work with any hotel booking?
No. The booking needs to be made with Chase travel only. You will need to head to the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal to make the hotel booking.
Does this work with a points and cash booking?
Yes, you will still get the credit for making a cash + points booking. For example, my most recent booking was for 20,000 points and $56, for which I received a $50 credit.
How long does it take for the credit to post?
In my experience, I’ve seen the credit post the next business day, but it may take up to 2-3 days at most.
Is this benefit available every calendar year?
Yes, you will get the benefit each anniversary year after you renew the card and pay the annual fee.
THE PUNDIT’S MANTRA
Overall, I think that this is a fantastic additional benefit with the Chase Sapphire card. Moreover, you can also earn Chase Ultimate Rewards points on daily purchases. I use my Chase Sapphire Preferred card as the go to card for dining out and travel.
