Background
For a quick weekend getaway, I spent two nights in San Juan, Puerto Rico. On my outbound flight, I flew on JetBlue Mint, which was quite the treat. Then on the way back, I booked this Delta flight in economy as it was the most economical and the time matched my preference.
Flight Details
Delta Flight 1966
Date: July 2025
San Juan (SJU) to New York (JFK)
Scheduled Duration: 4 Hours 24 Minutes
Status: On Time (10 minutes early)
Seat/Cabin: 28D/Main Cabin
Aircraft: Airbus A321neo
At the Airport & Boarding
At Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU), Delta operates from Terminal B. Before our flight, we stopped by the Escape Lounge, which is also located in Terminal B, for a small lunch. The lounge has just opened recently, and it was nice to relax in. Though the space is on the smaller side. You could check out my review for the Escape Lounge here if you would like.
Boarding started 40 minutes before the scheduled departure. I was assigned zone 6 out of 8, as I have no status with Delta. Thankfully, we had no issues with bringing our carry-ons onboard, though they did mention those in zones 7 or 8 would have to gate check their bags as it was a full flight. Our plane was one of the newer A321neos that entered into service with Delta in October 2022, so the overhead bins are larger and more efficient.
First Impressions
Our plane was only 3 years old, and felt pretty fresh. The Main Cabin seats on the A321neo have 31 inches of pitch, and the legroom felt solid for this flight. A nice 10-inch HD seatback screen included plenty of movies and shows for the 4-hour flight. Headphones were available upon request.

The captain let us know that our flight time today would be 3 hours and 28 minutes in the air, and they closed the boarding door 5 minutes before our scheduled departure.
The Flight
Shortly after takeoff, we had a snack & beverage service. On the menu, complimentary snacks included Biscoff cookies, Cheese-its, and SunChips Garden Salsa. But, it was actually a pretzel snack mix, a chocolate chip granola bar, or a Cinimmon Biscoff Cookie. Guess catering shifted the snack selection.
Complimentary soft drinks and coffee/tea were available, and alcoholic options were available for $10-12.

They had food for purchase since our flight was over 1,500 miles, and it was $14 for a Fruit and Cheese Plate or a Chicken Salad Sandwich Plate. Snack boxes for $10 were also available.
After the snack & beverage service, they walked by with water and coffee, which was a nice touch.
Every seat has a USB-A port, plus there is shared access to a universal power socket between the seats. Wi-Fi was complimentary for SkyMiles members, but it kept cutting out during this flight, probably since we were flying mostly over the Atlantic.
Next thing I knew, we landed 50 minutes before our scheduled arrival, and it took 40 minutes until we got to our gate since it was occupied, so we only ended up arriving 10 minutes early. A solid flight overall!
The Verdict
Overall, the Delta A321neo in the Main Cabin was enjoyable, and the flight went by pretty quickly. I appreciated the extra refreshment round during the flight, and the IFE system was good, though the Wi-Fi was spotty.
Have you flown on the Delta A321neo before? How was your experience?
Cheers,
Ty
