Last Wednesday Emirates Launched A380 flights to Johannesburg in South Africa. The airline had announced last July that they would start flights to the largest city in South Africa with their A380. The airline currently flies to Johannesburg four times a day. The flight that will be flying with the A380 is EK761 to Johannesburg and EK762 return. The airline plans on using a three class A380 for this flight. Emirates is the largest operator in the world of the A380 and currently fly it to destinations all over the world.
The Emirates A380
Emirates’ A380 is one of the most comfortable and fun ways to fly out there. The airline has 14 closed suites in First class. They also have 76 flat bed seats in business class. Probably the most fun aspect of the Emirates experience is their onboard bar and onboard showers. The airline has an extensive menu and wine list.
Even in economy, the airlines ICE entertainment system is considered industry leading. The airline for a while even offered a hot towel service in economy. The airline’s super hub in Dubai is the epicenter of their A380 operation, and have terminal-wide lounges for first and business class passengers.
Landing Thoughts
I have flown Emirates’ A380 first class once, and it was the most fun flight of my life. I had an excellent crew, food was top notch and the showers are special. The seat is a bit tight, but still one of the most comfortable suites I have been in. The airline has recently cut back A380 service to the US given demand slumps. I expect the airline to hopefully resume services as the economy recovers. Emirates A380s are truly an experience for anyone who flies them, regardless of class of service. The aircraft is massive, quiet and offers a smooth ride. Their flight to Johannesburg was long overdue to have an A380 fly there. British Airways and Air France already operate flights to the Airport on an A380, so Emirates is even late to the club. Nonetheless, I am very happy about this aircraft upgrade.
What do you think? Are you planning on taking the A380 to Johannesburg? Have you ever flown Emirates’ A380? How was your experience? Let us know!
