While I’m always on the lookout for the best credit card bonuses, I always advocate that you have your ‘keeper’ cards which you intend to keep long term. However, what makes a card a long term ‘keeper card’? In my opinion, there are three factors. Firstly, it offers a good welcome bonus. Secondly, it offers a decent return on spend. Thirdly, it offers benefits or credits that you use often and thereby help you offset a major chunk of the annual fee. In you ask me, then Chase Sapphire Preferred card continues to be one of my long term favorites. After Chase refreshed the Chase Sapphire Preferred card, one of the new benefits that they added was the $50 Chase hotel credit. As someone who has carried the Chase Sapphire Preferred card in his wallet for many years, this has been a great new additional benefit to the card. Moreover, Chase has kept the annual fee at $95 in spite of adding new benefits.
